Ultimate Sweater/ sweater dress Workshop

Date & Time: 10-3pm Friday 8th December
Location: Lower Ground Floor, Ansdell Institute, Woodlands Road, Lytham St.Annes, Lancashire. FY84BX.
Cost: £30 includes no material but pattern drafting paper & equipment
What you’ll need to provide: a paper pattern (information will be sent as to where to access both free or paid patterns)
What you will learn & make:
- How to adapt a patterns;
- changing the neckline; cowl, turtle neck, lowering or V neck
- Changing shape, length & style of sleeve, adding cuffs or cuffs with thumb hole
- Add length to adapt a top into a dress, alter hem line or add mitred side vents with a hi-low hem
- Draft & add waist ties or in seam pockets
You must start with a basic ‘block’, this could be your favourite go to pattern or a new one (provided on the PDF you’ll receive upon booking) its likely you may have a few patterns you’d like to ‘mash up’. We will start with some simple sketching & inspirational images (bringing these from magazines/catalogs/internet in encouraged but not essential) to determine the style of your ‘ultimate sweater/dress’. We will provide pattern drafting paper and the relevant equipment to help you adapt/draft your new blocks.
You will then cut your new pattern & with guidance/time allowing sew up your garment on a sewing machine or overlocker, noting any new order of sequences of constructing your new self drafted pattern.
The timings of this workshop should enable you to complete your garment within the session but each person will work at a different pace so please be aware you may have tasks to complete after the session finishes.
Who is this suitable for: Over 16's- Confident beginner- This workshop requires you to have existing dressmaking knowledge so that you can build your skills & expand the creative potential of making your own clothes.
