Jersey fabric is ideal for dressmaking; knitted rather than woven, 'jerseys' have a varying amount of stretch- some are very soft and others more structured. Jersey dress patterns often require less pattern pieces and have a shorter construction process as they stretch to fit rather than requiring complex pattern piecing or darts. Ensure you are using the correct machine needles and stitches that stretch to ensure maximum success with your project.
