Who is this suitable for: Over 16's- This course is perfect if you have sewn before or if you have attended the some beginners workshops & would like to extend your sewing skills further into dressmaking

What you'll Learn & Make: In this session you will learn how to perfect shirring, you will have the opportunity to test the technique on a range of different sample fabrics, enabling you to measure & calculating shirred detailing. You might like to bring along your favourite dress pattern & we’ll identify where you could add shirring, or choose to self draft a garment based on body measurements, we also have a number of recommended patterns that contain shirring too- a great opportunity to set yourself a new dressmaking project for Spring/summer with your new no how!

A great skill for beginners or returning dressmakers, increase your confidence & extend your knowledge with this versatile technique on the sewing machine.

Samples created in the sessions are ideal to build a skills file to create a perfect reference guide for when you need to use that technique again! (AKA your very own sewing bible)

*please note the garments pictured are for inspiration purposes, you make have time to plan & design a shirred garment within the session but you will not be working on or finishing one.

Great workshop!

Really enjoyed the Shirring workshop. Everything was clearly explained and demonstrated in a friendly relaxed environment. I had chance to practise on a range of different materials before starting my garment. I have now finished my dress and shirred the bodice and edge of the sleeves and I love it!
