Mini Masterclass: The anatomy of a sleeve

Location: Lytham YMCA, Mythop Road, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, FY8 4HB
Cost: £30 includes base block pattern & sheet of tracing paper & ruler/curve set.
What you’ll need to provide: Fabric for toiling your paper blocks & images from magazines/catalogs/internet in encouraged but not essential to determine the style of the design(s) you'd like to create.
What you will learn & make:
- Understand key parts of the sleeve pattern & terminology
- Identify different types of sleeves
- Learn how to adapt a basic sleeve pattern from inspiration pictures/drawings
- Draft a new sleeve & toile it in scrap fabric
We will start with understanding the components & terminology of a sleeve & cross reference your own personal inspiration with classic sleeve styles. We will use small scale templates to grasp the method then redraft a to scale version which can then be toiled in fabric. With guidance/time allowing we will note down the calculations of your new self drafted pattern.
The timings of this workshop should enable you to complete your pattern adjustments within the session but each person will work at a different pace so please be aware you may have tasks to complete after the session finishes.
Who is this suitable for: Over 16's- Confident beginner- This workshop requires you to have existing dressmaking knowledge so that you can build your skills & expand the creative potential of making your own clothes.
