Dates & Time: 12.30-3pm Mondays 16th & 23rd March
Location: Lytham YMCA, Mythop Road, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, FY8 4HB
Cost: £40-50 includes base block pattern drafting paper, pack of tracing paper, ruler/curve set & 30cm Zip if you choose this option.
What you’ll need to provide: Stretch Fabric(s); this could be a selection of remnants in colours/textures that work together or around 1.5-2m solid piece.
What you will learn & make:
Week 1:
We will start with a simple sketch (bring along an inspirational image(s) from magazines/catalogs/internet) to determine the style of the design you'd like to create.
Working from the basic ‘block’ we will break pattern pieces into colour blocks- this will be to add the 1/4 zip but could also be for pockets as well as for visual design.
You will then draft out your new pattern pieces & time allowing cut out your new self drafted pattern pieces in fabric.
Week 2:
We will start with inserting the zip, drafting a facing & finishing the neckline professionally, time allowing we will then continue with the construction with the remaining garment.
The timings of this workshop should enable you to complete your pattern adjustments within the session but each person will work at a different pace so please be aware you may have tasks to complete after the session finishes.
Who is this suitable for: Over 16's- Confident beginner- This workshop requires you to have existing dressmaking knowledge so that you can build your skills & expand the creative potential of making your own clothes.
